RESTROOM RENOVATION IN PROGRESS
The first floor restroom renovating began during spring break. The restrooms will be off-line until Commencement weekend. Updates about the progress of this project and other ADA-related improvements can be found here.
ABOUT THE STUDENT CENTER
LaFortune Student Center provides Notre Dame students with a meeting place for social, cultural and educational pursuits. The building was constructed in 1883 as Science Hall and was converted to a student center in the 1950's. The initial renovation, as well as subsequent expansions, were made possible by gifts from the Joseph A. LaFortune family of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The present-day student center contains 83,000 square feet of space, including:
- an information desk and box office
- national restaurant eateries, including Starbucks & Subway
- a convenience store
- 9 meeting rooms
- a student-run flowershop
- student organization offices
- student club storage space
Three offices of the Division of Student Affairs are represented in LaFortune:
The first two floors of LaFortune are open 24 hours while classes are in session, and at least one eatery is open until 4AM daily.
